The team of young activists want to make our city a bright, beautiful and unusual, so that every citizen could be proud that he came from Kirovograd. We want to remind people of our history
Hi, everybody. My name is Ilya and I from the town in the center of Ukraine – Kirovohrad. I love my town very much for his ability to connect the past and future. From old times our city is known as small Paris, it was considered as the cultural center of Ukraine. The first theater in Ukraine was open in it, the first tram also began the travel in this city.
Our city is known for the writers, poets, artists and musicians. Presently the city became known because of another sight. It is the Arboretum, in which about half a million tulips blossom every spring and give to inhabitants and all visitors a spring mood.
But as everything, our city has a reverse of the medal too. How beautifully everything didn’t sound, it is possible to see despondency, dullness, ruin on streets of this regional center. People slowly began to forget the history and the city became not so interesting. To my huge regret, now if you approach any passerby on the street and ask whether the city is pleasant to him, in reply you will hear so unpleasant “ no”. You will ask a question why? It seems, has to be on the contrary.
I want to change this situation with my team. and idea of our project I was inspired by street art in other city of the country Odessa. There, among sad and gray buildings I found the beautiful wall painted in memory of the great musician and the patriot Andrey Kuzmenko, people knew it under a pseudonym Scriabin.
The essence of our project consists in that on empty walls of the city write verses of the famous poets of Ukraine and fragments from the known works, and also about to illustrate them. It will become a constant reminder to inhabitants about our culture and history. With the company of adherents, we plan to clean our town as much as it is possible, to put benches and garbage cans. All this is real and possible, we agreed already with local authorities, found artists and youth, who are ready to help. The only thing that it is necessary for us is the starting capital. Here also we address you.
it is necessary for us for implementation of the project:
brushes every size
necessary equipment for cleanup
We will be grateful for any of your help.
P.S. Here is one of our favorite poem written by T.G. Shevchenko
When I am dead, bury me
In my beloved Ukraine,
My tomb upon a grave mound high
Amid the spreading plain,
So that the fields, the boundless steppes,
The Dnieper’s plunging shore
My eyes could see, my ears could hear
The mighty river roar.
When from Ukraine the Dnieper bears
Into the deep blue sea
The blood of foes … then will I leave
These hills and fertile fields –
I’ll leave them all and fly away
To the abode of God,
And then I’ll pray …. But till that day
I nothing know of God.
Oh bury me, then rise ye up
And break your heavy chains
And water with the tyrants’ blood
The freedom you have gained.
And in the great new family,
The family of the free,
With softly spoken, kindly word
Remember also me.
