STRETCH is an innovative, secular, yoga centre coming to Vancouver’s Chinatown. May we please invite you to help us actualize this dream for our beloved community.
We’re a couple of entrepreneurial yogis dedicated to sharing and learning about yoga and humanity. We’re bringing together a community of yogis and building an independent yoga centre with studio and community space for all. Join our community today and get amazing deals on passes and yoga classes.
We’ve been dreaming about this for a long while and we’re so excited to share it with you. Take a look at this video to see what we started from. If you’re curious about STRETCH, there’s a lot more information below.
About The Studio
We have a space at 180 E Pender St where STRETCH is building:
a modern practice space with climate control, natural flooring, LED lighting,...
spacious and comfortable change and shower facilities
a raw, warehouse style flex-space for community workshops, teacher training, yoga research, and a variety of yoga related programming and special events.
a social space for the community to meet and exchange in between classes
a retail area to promote local designers & makers of yoga wear offering the best quality products available in Vancouver.
The STRETCH mandate includes active involvement with the latest on science and yoga. The FLEX space of our facility will host events and workshops on the science of yoga with proceeds being distributed back to our outreach programs. This unique aspect of Stretch will engage the intellectual and academic communities, people who might normally not be attracted to yoga.
STRETCH is actively developing two residency programs: a Researcher-In-Residence for a student or professional doing scientific research related to the benefits of movement and yoga, and an Artist-In-Residence who would benefit from a regular practice for their own creativity while utilizing the space for opening receptions interactions with the community. Both residents will help advance and enrich the centre with their unique approach to yoga. The public will be invited to interact with both residents through special events, openings and social media.
Our FLEX-space offers Vancouver a room to assemble and explore yoga, meditation, dance, and other movement and wellness activities. All with access to the amenities of the centre, such as the change rooms, props, support staff and much more.
What is The Science of Yoga?
"In Antiquity, the geniuses of india forged a radically new kind of relationship Between humans and their Bodies. We are now on the cusp of learning how to apply their discoveries in startling new ways, of bestowing on the world new gifts of healing and emotional renewal, health and vitality, personal energy and creative inspiration." -William J. Broad "The Science of Yoga"

We Pay It Forward:
Stretch will offer a unique way for patrons to participate in raising awareness around yoga and initiate newcomers with a variety of original programs including the ability to pay-forward to allow others to experience yoga who might not otherwise be able to afford it.
The initial goal of this campaign is to raise funds for renovations in the space, specifically, a comfortable and all-natural flooring for the studio room. Once we reach our goal, additional funds will be used to support innovative programming such as:
Our Residencies for local scientific research on the benefits of yoga, and artists enhancing our experience and their work with yoga.
Sponsoring community events in the flex space to promote yoga for kids, teenagers and young adults through introductory workshops to yoga and meditation. These sessions will focus on groups that might not be able to afford yoga or would not normally pay for yoga but would benefit from the means yoga offers to make long-term change in their lives and in our world.
Get a head start on developing partnerships with like-minded individuals and organisations that are ahead of the curve in terms of the Science of Yoga such as Kripalu center for yoga and health in western Massachusetts and their Institute for Extraordinary Living
“Pay what you” can yoga classes with classical music for families and music lovers.
